ParkPal
The web app behind Friends of Fort Hardy Park — event and class registration and volunteer tooling, built with Next.js and PocketBase. It has replaced every paid service the nonprofit was using, so far.

What it is
ParkPal is the web app I built for Friends of Fort Hardy Park, where I serve on the board as Director of Technology. It’s for the volunteers and the events that happen at the park: people can see what’s coming up and register for classes and events, and the volunteers running them have one place to manage it all.
Why I built it
A small nonprofit’s budget goes fast when every job has its own paid service attached. So far, ParkPal has replaced every paid service we were using — we get the same tools or better for less money, and generating our yearly stats takes a fraction of the time it used to.
How it’s built
It’s a Next.js app with PocketBase as the backend. That pairing is deliberately small: a volunteer-run organization doesn’t want infrastructure that takes more than one person to keep alive.
Status
In use today. The repo is private for now — someday I might open it up.
